Pala Gig, NYE 2011 – Circle City Soul

Had some fun last night playing for Pala Casino in their Events Center for New Year’s Eve.

It’s a BIG room – easily 600-800 people in there. The dance floor was full most of the night and the countdown with the big balloon drop was cool.

I took some video from the cel phone – not the greatest quality but hopefully you get the idea :)

Here’s the “before” when we just walked in:

And once the room is setup and dark, ready for guests. Sorry the quality is kind of bad on this because the room is so big and mostly dark. But you can really see the color at the stage… it’s cool

And finally… the party’s over…

Happy New Year Everyone!

I did have a little bit of a cold… but nothing I had to work around much for singing. Mostly I think the weird voice was just the cel phone camera.

The main thing for getting through singing with a cold is controlling the cough. If you can keep from coughing, your vocal cords won’t get swollen badly. Then if you take plenty of time to warm up and free the cords before you start singing you should be fine.

But if you cough a lot and your cords get all swollen… nothing is going to help really :(

Thanks for the videos Griff. Was that you speaking in the first two videos? I barely recognized you if it was. I was wondering if you had a cold or something, which then got me thinking that it would be really goo do hear from you on what you do for your voice when you have to play a gig with a cold. Maybe you could post your answer here and on the forum?
